CLUBS BEWARE ON IN KIND SPONSORSHIP DEALS

Cash is king they say. In-kind has its place in club land and if its cost relieving contra then its generally ok but there are watch outs. Here are 5 to consider:

1. Has your club given away prime sponsorship inventory it could sell for cash?
2. Has it given away the opportunity to leverage category exclusivity?
3. Are the lines between supplier and sponsor blurred?
4. Do suppliers get to use the same designation/logo as sponsors to promote their association?
5. Are you better off paying for certain goods or services so as to leverage the opportunity?
