TEENAGE GIRLS ARE AT RISK OF NOT RETURNING TO TEAM SPORT POST COVID

As a father of a 10-year-old daughter playing netball, the message from the recent Suncorp survey has not been lost on me. As many parts of Australia and New Zealand get back to community sport, a survey from Suncorp has indicated that more than 25% of teenage girls are at risk of not returning to team sport.
Whilst I know my daughter is returning to netball, I am mindful that this report indicates more than a quarter of her more mature club members might not return at all.
I will certainly be doing my best to help clubs get everyone back to team sport as a platform for physical and mental health. I will be engaging with business leaders, sporting clubs and associations, local councils and federated bodies to support them in their endeavours.
I first learned of the survey when I read Madeline Hislop’s article here on Women’s Agenda. Thanks Madeline!
